About DJ Rob

DJ Rob Klaproth DJ Rob Klaproth has called San Diego his home for the past 10 years.  His roots in music go back to his childhood, in Seattle and Salt Lake City, where he spent hours listening to a whole spectrum of music genres with his dad.  Music has always been close to the heart of Rob’s life, but when he went to his first night club, back in 1998, he discovered that it was his true calling in life… He was born to use music to move people with their body and minds!

Rob spent a considerable amount of time as an understudy with other professional DJ’s, watching them at work in their booths, taking notes, and observing the crowd’s reaction to the music. In 2000, Rob invested in his own DJ equipment, and quickly learned his craft.  In 2002, Rob landed his first residency at Six Degrees, and spun there for over a year before the bar was acquired by Starlite Lounge.

He discovered that it was his true calling in life… He was born to use music to move people with their body and minds!

Rob continues to dominate the scene with his uplifting and energetic music that makes people smile and dance their hearts out. Rob plays twice a year at Hunter’s in Palm Springs, CA and is the resident “pool party DJ” for several groups in San Diego including SAGA (The Gay Ski Club), NSD, and California Men’s Gathering (CMG). Rob has also been a guest DJ at Bourbon Street, and has also had some play time in the booth at Urban Mo’s.  He’s also spun at the San Diego Gay Pride festival the past 3 years in a row, and numerous events for non profit organizations including North County Gay & Lesbian Coalition, MPower SD, and Being Alive to name a few.

Rob describes his style of music as “high-energy, vocal, house music”.  He enjoys blending Top 40 vocal house mixes with sexy dance floor anthems that speak to the crowd and make people want to dance.  To keep the energy level up throughout his mixes, Rob edits all of his tracks on the computer before burning them to CD, removing the drop outs and, often times, reconstructing the track to make a fresh, new mix.  Rob really knows how to keep the crowd moving!
